About Amy

Hi, my name is Amy. Welcome to my blog Ginger Peachy! The majority of what you will find here centers on crafts (with extra emphasis on crochet), but because I love to write in general, you will also find posts on vintage and retro fashion, and my thoughts on how to live for Christ.

My (Simplified) Resume

I’ve been a blogger for over 6 years now, and a professional crochet designer for at least 4 years. I have created over 140 patterns for Crochet Spot and, having learned so much, decided it was time to branch out on my own. You will find my original designs and patterns here at Ginger Peachy, while I offer PDF versions of crochet patterns for a small price at both Ravelry and Etsy, and sell made to order decor at Etsy. If you are interested in viewing all of my crochet patterns, visit my Ravelry account, and browse through baby blankets, hats of all styles, doll clothes, kitchen linen, and much more. Visit GingerPeachyStore on Etsy and browse my latest designs and patterns! Or send me a note for a request! I would love to do something custom made just for you!

Why Ginger Peachy?

When I started blogging many years ago I had no idea what I wanted to write about. Blogging was still fairly new so I never dreamed I would be sharing my creations with the world through it, much less have the chance to develop a business. My interests at that time revolved mostly around maritime life, so naturally I went with the name Over the Horizon. As I changed, my blog changed with it, but not until this year did I finally settle on the pleasing alternate name of Ginger Peachy. I chose the name at the suggestion of my helpful family simply because it sounded whimsical. But there are many reasons why it fits. First of all, “Ginger” is what I am, a redhead, although I’ve always thought gold or red to be more accurate nicknames. “Peachy” is for the vintage term “peachy keen” which means “super great” or “happily good” in my book, and that is the feeling I want to inspire with my blog. And lastly, both together give the impression of soft yellows and oranges, a little of which you may find in the design of the site. Besides, one good reason is simply that it is fun to say. Try it, say it out loud, “Ginger Peachy”. See what I mean?

Because of my obsession with hedgehogs and mushrooms, I’ve incorporated them into my sites design. Don’t even attempt to tell me these woodland occupants don’t belong on a crafting blog. I simply won’t listen.

If you are still curious and want to know more about me

I am the third of seven children, raised in a bible-believing home, and homeschooled my entire education. As all large families can attest, we’ve heard all the jokes and been asked all the questions. We’ve been called the Brady Bunch, the Partridge Family, been asked if we were Catholic or Mormon. And for the record, I didn’t do school in my pj’s.

I am confident that God has given each of us talents and interests in order to serve Him. It may seem odd to think that God cares about our likes and dislikes but I believe when we use the talents He has given us, we are pleasing and glorifying Him. And when you boil it down, that is what I want Ginger Peachy to be all about.

The Future

My plans for the future are simple enough: develop my business of selling crochet patterns and actual products, including my mixed media projects (check out Nautical Collage | A Mixed Media Project). That is, the near future.

In a separate direction, I am very interested in ministry. I have a passion for helping this generation to see their need for Jesus and hope that God puts me in a position where I am able to do that to my utmost ability.

And that’s it with me. I would absolutely love to hear from you, though! Look around and tell me what you think of my little cyber home. If you are a fellow blogger then don’t forget to include your blogs address (URL). I’d love to talk and share ideas!
